Module Four:
Flickr is an online photo management application where you can store, share and edit photos.
I like the way you can do an advanced search on flickr instead of going to google images all the time. With regard to copyright it is important to use common sense and acknowledge the source. Using free for education websites is also a good idea as they are copyright free.

Hi Cath
ReplyDeleteWhile your feedback on Module 4 was succinct, I agree with your ideas. After reading your Blog I went and looked at the advanced searches. Using Google Images can be very hit and miss in terms of quality of photos, where as with Flickr you get a much better consistency.
Unfortunatley, I don't think we can leave attributing the source to "common sense" as you suggested. The kids have been bought up not seeing the need to acknowledge sources - we as teachers have a real role here in educating them so the right way here becomes their "common sense".
Your insights are really worth reading. I look forward to following your Blog.
Love Flickr and the way the way the photos are managed. Everything thing is there for you. Way to go for free resources! As for common sense this is learnt and so we cannot leave it up to the children to acknowledge.
ReplyDeleteThe mind set is very selfish as the internet is there to use and so acknowledgement is not considered. It is something that has to be learnt.
